How this ranking works
One method for every tool. We compared documented features and published prices; we did not run hands-on tests. Value carries the most weight.
Full methodThis list is for small and midsize sales teams comparing CRM seat prices, free plans and what each paid tier adds. Tools are ranked by value first, then features, then ease of use. Prices are the cheapest paid plan in USD as shown on each vendor's page on the check date; where a page showed only euros from our location, the price is marked pending.
The verdict
HubSpot CRM leads because its free plan never expires and Starter seats cost $15 per month, though that rate is a new-customer discount. Zoho CRM is the strongest alternative for teams that want workflows, cadences and forecasting early. Freshsales has the lowest verified paid seat at $9, Less Annoying CRM is the simplest single-plan option, and Salesforce makes sense mainly for teams that expect to need its higher editions.

Best forSmall teams that want a permanent free tier now and a clear upgrade path later.
HubSpot tops this list because its free CRM is a working sales tool rather than a trial. HubSpot says the free tier covers up to two users and 1,000 contacts with no expiration date, and it includes contact management, deal pipelines, CRM import, a reporting dashboard and the Breeze Assistant. When a team grows, Starter starts at $15 per seat per month and adds required fields, permission sets, multiple currencies and removes HubSpot branding. Two caveats matter for budgeting. First, HubSpot marks the Starter price as a discount for new customers with no set end date, so the renewal rate could change. Second, Professional starts at $50 per seat, which is where duplicate management, contact scoring and custom reporting live. Small sales teams that stay on Free or Starter get strong value; teams that need Professional features should compare Zoho and Pipedrive first. We compared documented features and published prices and did not run a trial account.
- ✓Free plan has no expiration date and needs no credit card
- ✓Starter seat price is among the lowest verified paid entries here
- ✓Each tier lists exactly what it adds, which makes upgrades easy to plan
- ✕Free plan stops at two users and 1,000 contacts
- ✕The $15 Starter price is a discount for new customers that HubSpot says can end at any time
- ✕Professional jumps to $50 per seat, more than three times Starter
- Free plan:
- Yes, up to 2 users and 1,000 contacts
- Cheapest paid plan:
- Starter, from $15 per seat per month
- Plans:
- Free, Starter, Professional, Enterprise
- Customers:
- Over 306,000 in more than 135 countries
Bottom line: HubSpot is the safest first CRM for a small team: start free, then pay $15 per seat when you need permissions and currencies. Check the Professional price before you plan to grow into it.

Zoho CRM

Best forSmall and midsize teams that want workflows, forecasting and cadences at a low per-user rate.
Zoho CRM ranks second because it pairs a three-user free edition with an entry paid plan that already includes features other vendors hold back. Zoho describes the free edition as covering leads, deals, workflows, reports and a mobile app for three users. The Standard edition adds workflows and assignment rules, cadences, reports and dashboards and sales forecasting, while Professional brings CPQ, email intelligence and inventory management. Enterprise adds territory management, custom functions and customer portals for midsize teams. The weak spots are practical. Our checker could not load USD prices from Zoho's pricing page, so we list the price as pending rather than guess. The interface also exposes many settings, which takes longer to learn than Less Annoying CRM or Capsule. Teams that want automation without paying HubSpot Professional rates should start here. We compared documented features and published prices and did not run a trial account.
- ✓Free edition supports three users, one more than HubSpot or Capsule
- ✓Forecasting and cadences arrive on the entry paid edition
- ✓Deep customization on the higher editions
- ✕USD prices did not load from our location, so the starting price is pending
- ✕More settings to learn than simpler tools like Less Annoying CRM
- ✕Local taxes are added on top of listed prices
- Free plan:
- Yes, free forever for 3 users
- Paid editions:
- Standard, Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate
- Entry edition includes:
- Workflows, cadences, reports, sales forecasting
- USD price:
- Pending check
Bottom line: Zoho CRM gives the most automation per paid seat among the full-featured CRMs here. Expect a steeper setup than the simple tools and confirm the USD price on Zoho's page.

Best forBudget-conscious teams that want calling and email in the CRM at the lowest verified seat price.
Freshsales has the cheapest verified paid seat on this list. The Growth plan costs $9 per user per month billed annually and includes a Kanban view, contact lifecycle stages, email templates, custom fields, basic workflows and built-in chat, email and phone. That is a lot for the price if your reps sell by phone and email from one screen. The gap opens at the next step: contact scoring, deal insights, territory management and sales sequences are on Pro at $39, more than four times Growth. Freshworks also charges extra for branded documents and its Freddy AI Agent. There is no permanent free plan on the pricing page; instead there is a 21-day trial of the full CRM, after which the account is suspended unless you pay. For a small team that just needs a tidy pipeline and calling, Growth is hard to beat on cost. We compared documented features and published prices and did not run a trial account.
- ✓Lowest verified paid seat price in this list at $9
- ✓Phone, chat and email are part of the entry plan
- ✓21-day trial is longer than most rivals offer
- ✕No permanent free plan is listed on the pricing page
- ✕Sales sequences and contact scoring require Pro at $39

Best forVery small businesses that want a simple CRM with no tiers to compare.
Less Annoying CRM does the opposite of most vendors in this list: there is one plan, it costs $15 per user per month plus tax, and every feature is included. That covers unlimited contacts and companies, unlimited pipelines and custom fields, task management, email logging, user permissions, mobile access and 25GB of file storage per user. HIPAA compliance is included and the company will sign a BAA, which is unusual at this price. Support by email and phone is free for everyone, including people still on the 30-day trial. The trade-off is depth. The pricing page lists no workflow automation, lead scoring, sequences or forecasting, so teams that need those will outgrow it. There is also no free plan. For a small office that wants a contact list, pipeline and tasks without studying a feature matrix, it is one of the easiest choices here. We compared documented features and published prices and did not run a trial account.
- ✓One price with no feature tiers or contracts
- ✓Free email and phone support, even during the trial
- ✓30-day trial with no credit card
- ✕No free plan
- ✕No advanced automation, scoring or forecasting features listed
- ✕Tax is added on top of the $15 price
- Free plan:
- No
- Free trial:
- 30 days, no credit card
- Price:
- $15 per user per month plus tax
- Plans:
- One plan with every feature
- File storage:
- 25GB per user
Bottom line: Less Annoying CRM is the simplest buy on this list: one plan, one price, everything included. Pick something else if you need automation.

Best forSmall B2B teams that want CRM and basic marketing tools in one subscription.
Nutshell's entry Foundation plan costs $13 per user per month and, unlike most entry tiers, keeps contacts and storage unlimited. Every plan also includes email and calendar sync, an AI chatbot, a form builder, landing pages, webchat and attribution reporting, so a small B2B team can capture leads without a separate marketing tool. Growth at $25 adds activity reports, sales quotas and lead assignment rules. The plan most sales teams will care about is Pro at $42, which adds five custom pipelines, advanced reporting, sales automation and a meeting scheduler. That makes Nutshell's step from entry to automation steeper than its headline price suggests. There is no free plan, though the 14-day trial needs no card, and annual billing saves 15%. Marketing, engagement and prospecting add-ons are priced separately. We compared documented features and published prices and did not run a trial account.
- ✓Unlimited contacts from the cheapest plan
- ✓Webchat, forms, landing pages and email marketing tools included with every subscription
- ✓Free live support on every plan
- ✕No free plan, only a 14-day trial
- ✕Sales automation starts on Pro at $42
- ✕Marketing and engagement add-ons cost extra

Bottom line: Nutshell is good value for teams that want lead capture forms and email sync with their CRM. Plan on Pro if you need automation or more than one pipeline.

Best forDeal-driven sales teams that want a visual pipeline and fast daily use.
Pipedrive is built around the deal pipeline, and its plans are organized by how much selling work they automate. Lite covers lead, calendar and pipeline management, AI-generated reports, spreadsheet import, more than 500 integrations and Pipedrive Nova, which prepares meeting briefs, transcribes calls and suggests CRM updates. Growth is the plan most small teams will want, since it adds full Gmail or Outlook sync with open and click tracking, automations, nurturing sequences, forecast reports and a meeting scheduler. Premium adds LeadBooster lead capture and routing, scoring and contracts with e-signatures. Pipedrive scores lower on value here because there is no free plan and our checker could only see prices in euros, so the USD starting price is pending. Annual billing saves up to 42%, which is worth taking once a team commits. We compared documented features and published prices and did not run a trial account.
- ✓Clean pipeline view built around deals
- ✓More than 500 integrations, including Zapier and Zoom
- ✓Annual billing saves up to 42% compared with monthly
- ✕No free plan, only a 14-day trial
- ✕Email sync and automations need Growth, not the entry plan
- ✕USD prices did not load from our location, so the starting price is pending
- Free plan:

- Free trial:
- 14 days, no credit card
- Plans:
- Lite, Growth, Premium and higher tiers
- Integrations:
- 500+ apps
- Annual discount:

Bottom line: Pipedrive suits teams whose work is moving deals through stages, and Growth is the plan to compare. Confirm the USD price on the vendor page before buying.

Best forSmall teams of one to five people that want a free start and simple upgrades.
Capsule CRM publishes its prices plainly: Starter costs $18, Growth $36, Advanced $54 and Ultimate $72 per user per month on annual billing, or $22, $40, $60 and $75 monthly. The free plan supports two users, 250 contacts, five custom fields and one sales pipeline, which is enough for a freelancer or a pair of partners to try a real CRM. Starter lifts the contact limit to 30,000 and adds email templates, a shared mailbox, an AI pipeline generator and integrations with Xero and Zendesk. Growth is where automation arrives, with five pipelines, five project boards, workflow automations, advanced reporting and Gmail and Outlook email sync. That puts Capsule's useful automation at $36 per user, above Zoho and Freshsales entry tiers. There are no setup or onboarding fees, and every paid plan starts with a 14-day trial. We compared documented features and published prices and did not run a trial account.
- ✓Permanent free plan for two users
- ✓No setup or onboarding fees
- ✓Monthly billing is available at a small premium over annual
- ✕Free plan is capped at 250 contacts
- ✕Workflow automation and email sync need Growth at $36
- ✕Starter costs more than Freshsales Growth or HubSpot Starter
- Free plan:
- Yes, up to 2 users and 250 contacts
- Free trial:
- 14 days on paid plans, no card
- Cheapest paid plan:
- Starter, $18 per user per month billed annually
- Monthly billing:

Bottom line: Capsule is a tidy, low-risk choice for very small teams, with a free plan and clear pricing. Teams that need automation will pay Growth rates sooner than with Zoho.

Best forTeams that expect to scale into advanced customization and want to start small on the same platform.
Salesforce is the most capable platform here, and its small-business pricing is easier to read than it used to be. The pricing page lists a Free Suite at $0, and Starter Suite at $25 per user per month, billed monthly or annually at the same rate. Starter Suite is an all-in-one CRM that brings sales, service, marketing and commerce tools together, and Salesforce offers a 30-day trial for up to 10 users. The value score is held back by what comes next. Pro Suite costs $100 per user per month billed annually, the Core edition is listed at $195 and Advanced at $395, and Agentforce for Sales starts at $125 per user. Setup also takes more work than with HubSpot or Pipedrive. Small teams that expect to need deep customization later can start on Starter Suite; teams that will stay small get more for the money elsewhere. We compared documented features and published prices and did not run a trial account.
- ✓Starter Suite is the same $25 whether billed monthly or annually
- ✓30-day trial of Starter Suite for up to 10 users
- ✓Clear path into the most extensive CRM feature set on the market
- ✕Pro Suite is four times the price of Starter Suite

Best forTeams that run their day in Gmail and Google Calendar.
Copper is the CRM for teams that live in Google Workspace. It brings contacts, deals and email sync into Gmail and Google Calendar through a Chrome extension, so reps can update records without switching tabs. Basic costs $23 per seat per month paid annually or $29 monthly, and includes pipelines, task automation, project management and contact enrichment. The limits show quickly, though. Basic caps contacts at 2,500, and workflow automation, bulk email and reporting are on Professional at $59 paid annually. Unlimited contacts, email series and custom reports need Business at $99. Compared with HubSpot or Zoho, which have free tiers, Copper asks more per seat for a narrower feature set, and that is why its value score trails. For a Google-centric team that wants the CRM to feel like part of Gmail, it remains a sensible pick. We compared documented features and published prices and did not run a trial account.
- ✓Works inside Gmail and Google Calendar
- ✓Annual billing saves up to 26%
- ✓Project management included from Basic
- ✕No free plan
- ✕Basic caps contacts at 2,500
- ✕Workflow automation and reporting need Professional at $59

Insightly
7.4/10A CRM that combines lead and contact management with project management, priced in three per-user plans.
Price

Best forSmall teams that hand won deals over to project delivery.
Insightly's main difference is project management: the entry Plus plan pairs lead and contact management with projects, so a team can move a won deal into delivery without a second tool. Plus also includes advanced reports and pre-built dashboards. It costs $29 per user per month billed annually, the highest verified entry price on this list. Professional at $49 adds lead assignment and routing, workflow automation and the AI Copilot, and Enterprise at $99 adds sandboxes, products, pricebooks, quotes and audit logging. There is no free plan, only a 14-day trial with no card. Insightly says every user can reach support by phone or email. Price-focused teams will get more from HubSpot, Zoho or Freshsales, but service businesses that need sales and project tracking in one record may find the bundle worth paying for. We compared documented features and published prices and did not run a trial account.
- ✓Project management included from the entry plan
- ✓Phone and email support for all users
- ✓14-day trial with no credit card
- ✕No free plan
- ✕Highest verified entry price in this list at $29
- ✕Workflow automation requires Professional at $49
- Free plan:
- No
- Free trial:
- 14 days, no credit card
- Cheapest paid plan:
- Plus, $29 per user per month billed annually
- Plans:
- Plus, Professional, Enterprise
Bottom line: Insightly fits teams that sell and then deliver projects for the same client. On price alone it trails most of this list.
What to check before you pay
Count users and contacts before comparing free plans
Free tiers differ more than they look. HubSpot allows two users and 1,000 contacts, Capsule two users and 250 contacts, and Zoho three users. If your team or list is already larger, compare the entry paid plans instead.
Find the tier where automation starts
Most vendors keep workflow automation one tier above the entry plan. Freshsales puts sequences on Pro at $39, Capsule puts automations on Growth at $36, Nutshell on Pro at $42 and Copper on Professional at $59. That second tier is often the real price of the CRM.
Check whether the price is annual or introductory
Freshsales, Capsule, Copper and Insightly show annual prices by default. Capsule's Starter is $18 annually and $22 monthly, and Copper's Basic is $23 annually and $29 monthly. HubSpot's $15 Starter rate is a discount for new customers that it says can end at any time.
Look for contact caps on paid plans
Some entry plans limit records. Copper Basic stops at 2,500 contacts and Capsule Starter at 30,000, while Nutshell and Less Annoying CRM list unlimited contacts on every plan.
