Streaming Price Statistics 2026
US households that pay for streaming video reported spending about $69 a month on four services in Deloitte's survey fielded in late 2024, up from $61 a year earlier, while cable or satellite subscribers report paying $125. List prices keep rising: Spotify Premium Individual is $12.99 a month in the US, Apple TV is $14.99 and YouTube TV is $82.99. Streaming took 49.6% of US TV viewing in August 2026, according to Nielsen.

This page tracks what streaming video and music cost in the United States: current list prices from the services' own US pages, what households actually spend, how much ad-supported plans save, how often people cancel, and how streamers turn prices into revenue. Figures cover 2025 and 2026. Prices were checked on the services' US pages on November 4, 2026 and change often.
Streaming is no longer the cheap alternative it was. Deloitte's survey shows the average subscribing household paying $69 a month for four video services, a 13% rise in one year, and Bank of America payments data shows around 16% of streaming households paying over $80 a month. That is still well below the $125 a month cable and satellite subscribers report paying, but the gap is narrowing as list prices climb.
List prices on the services' own US pages show where the money goes. Spotify Premium Individual costs $12.99 a month, Apple Music $11.99, Apple TV $14.99, Hulu without ads $21.49 and YouTube TV $82.99. Bundles are the main discount: Apple One Individual costs $21.95 against $34.96 for the same services bought separately, and Disney's Disney+ and Hulu bundle starts at $12.99 with ads.
Ad-supported plans are how most people now control the bill. Deloitte found 54% of subscribers have at least one ad-supported service, and Antenna reports that 52% of fall 2025 sign-ups were ad-supported plans, up from 43% in 2023. Hulu's ad tier costs $12.49 a month against $21.49 without ads, a gap of $9.
Price increases keep feeding churn but rarely end it. Deloitte reports that 41% of consumers canceled a paid video service in the past six months and 22% canceled and came back, while a $5 price increase would make 60% likely to cancel their favorite service. Spotify's filings show what the companies gain: price increases added €0.48 to its premium revenue per user in the third quarter of 2026.
Current US list prices of major streaming services
These are the monthly prices each service shows on its own US page, without promotions. Music services cluster around $11 to $13 for one person, while video services range from about $12 for ad-supported plans to over $20 without ads. Live TV streaming costs several times more because it replaces a cable package. Family, student and bundle plans change the per-person cost a lot, so compare the plan you would actually buy.

What households spend on streaming
Survey and payments data agree that the average streaming bill is now in the $60 to $70 range per month for video alone. Deloitte measures what subscribers say they pay, while Bank of America measures actual payments from its customers, so the two are not directly comparable. Both show spending rising faster than the number of services, which points to price increases rather than people adding more subscriptions.

Price sensitivity and what people say is fair
Deloitte's survey gives a rough price ceiling. People say about $14 is the right price for an ad-free plan, a little below the roughly $16 market average, and about $10 for an ad-supported plan. A $5 increase is enough to make most say they would cancel their favorite service. Stated intentions overstate real cancellations, but the gap between what people pay and what they think is fair explains why ad tiers and bundles have grown.

Ad tiers, churn and sign-ups
Cancellation and resubscription are now normal behavior. Deloitte's churn measure counts anyone who canceled any service in six months, so it is much higher than the churn rate of any one service. Antenna's sign-up data shows that new subscribers increasingly choose ad-supported plans and that sign-ups are concentrated in the fall, when football and new seasons arrive. Together these explain why services offer discounts and bundles at the end of the year.

How price increases show up in streamer revenue
Company filings confirm that price increases are a main driver of streaming revenue growth. Spotify breaks out the effect directly, and Netflix credits pricing alongside membership growth. Peacock grew paid subscribers from 41 million to 48 million, and its third-quarter revenue also included FIFA World Cup amounts. Linear TV continues to lose subscribers at about 10% a year at Warner Bros. Discovery, which is the pool streaming services are still drawing from.

Streaming's share of TV viewing
Viewing share explains why streamers can keep raising prices: streaming is now about half of all TV time in the US. Nielsen's figures measure time spent, not money, and YouTube's lead is mostly free, ad-supported viewing. Among paid services, Netflix and Disney hold the largest shares, which matches their position as the services most households keep through price increases.

Methodology note
List prices come from each service's own US web page as fetched on November 4, 2026, and exclude taxes, promotions and introductory offers unless stated. Spending and behavior figures come from Deloitte's Digital Media Trends surveys (fielded in late 2024 and fall 2025), Bank of America payments data and its June 2025 survey, and Antenna's subscription panel. Revenue and subscriber figures come from company filings with the SEC. Viewing shares are from Nielsen's monthly Gauge. Survey figures reflect what respondents report, and Deloitte's churn figure counts anyone who canceled any service, so it is higher than any single service's churn rate.
